My Journey Begins
Hi I'm Elena, welcome to my creative hub.
My journey began on the isthmus of Panama in Central America where I was raised by loving grandparents and a "village" of other family members. I was surrounded by their crafts, which included my grandmother's sewing, gardening, baking, crystal flower creations, and crocheted items. My grandfather's tailoring, carpentry and painting as well as my aunts' cake decorating masterpieces to mention just a few.
Eventually, I began flexing my creative wings in the art of "made by hand". I scavenged fabric scraps and buttons from my grandmother's sewing projects to make my own creations. As I got older I worked with beads and later started crocheting.
So it is not surprising that when I came to the US and became a homemaker and a mother I made my own curtains, bedspreads, tablecloths, sewed my daughters' clothing, made their toys, stenciled the walls of my home, quilted, refinished reclaimed furniture, planted gardens, canned veggies, made jams, baked bread, and even wrote my own bedtime stories.
Whew, where did I get the energy!?
When my girls flew the coop, I traveled abroad, And lived outside the country for several years.
I have since returned to the US, dusted off some old ideas, added many new ones and since I love to teach and share, I developed this site to share it all with you.
So come along for the journey and see what catches your eye.
