Today I will show you how to replace a missing button. Most times you have the button. Other times you have to purchase one. Before you run out to buy one though check the inside hem of a skirt or the bottom of a shirt tail. Manufacturers usually provide replacements, and sew them on to the item of clothing. Many times they come in a little plastic bag attached to the item. Always save these!
So Mr. F. lost a button to one of his shirts. The first thing I did was check his shirt tails for replacements.
Use a seam ripper or small scissors to cut away thread and carefully remove button from shirt tail.
Are they centered? Or are they more to the top or bottom of the button hole? These buttons are more toward the top. Insert needle from the underside of the place where the button will be sewn and through the button hole. This helps you be accurate in your placement.
Follow the steps pictured below.
For step 3, pull needle through loop and pull thread to tighten. Repeat.
